Two LP players, one MC player All-DAC tennis 

Duneland Athletic Conference champion La Porte had Alaina Majors and Rachel Kaminski named to the All-DAC Girls Tennnis Team, a list that also includes Michigan City’s Evangelea Dabagia. Valparaiso led the DAC with three selections, including all-conference Most Valuable Player Rose Pastoret. Pastoret had the top DAC record at No. 1 singles, and Crown Point’s Rebecca Ising and Gina Chiarella had the top DAC record at No. 1 doubles.

LP boys hoops camp June 10

La Porte High School will host its second annual boys basketball summer camp for kids ages Kindergarten through eighth grade June 10-13. The K-4 group meets from 8-9:30 a.m., followed by the 5-8 group from 10-11:30 a.m. Instructors will be members of the Slicers coaching staff and current players. Registration is $40, $35 for each additional child. The fee includes a one-of-a-kind shirt, available only to camp participants. La Porte Baseball Regional schedule

In the Class 4A La Porte Baseball Regional Saturday at Schreiber Field, Lake Central and Crown Point meet in the opener at 10:30 a.m. Mishawaka and Northridge play in the second game about 50 minutes after the end of Game 1. The winners face off in the final Saturday at 7 p.m.

Youth Fishing Events Saturday

The La Porte County Parks and the Northwest Indiana Steelheaders team up for a free Kids Fishing Fun Day from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Luhr Park. No pre-registration is required though children must be accompanied by an adult. For details, go to www.laportecountyparks.org or call 219-324-5855. Also Saturday, the Valparaiso Park Department will host its annual free Take A Kid Fishing Day from 8 a.m. until noon at Rogers Lakewood Park. Briar Leaf Summer Junior Camps

Briar Leaf Golf Club is offering its popular Summer Junior Golf Camps beginning in June. The camps are offered four times in the summer and feature professional swing instruction from PGA Professional Jay Williams and PGA Associate Cody Ward and their staff, as well as on-course play. Beginning juniors can register for the First Swing Program, while experienced golfers may participate in the Players Club. Registration forms are available at Briar Leaf or on the club’s website at briarleaf.com. La Porte Junior Golf Tour

Registration is now open for this summer’s La Porte Junior Golf Tour. Designed for juniors who have on-course playing experience, the tour visits Briar Leaf, Beechwood, Legacy Hills and Michigan City Municipal in a seven-tournament schedule. Players will compete in age groups ranging from eight to 17 years old for both boys and girls. At only $45 for the season, the tour provides a great opportunity for juniors to play at all of the local public golf courses in a tournament atmosphere. Registration forms are available at Briar Leaf Golf Club or on the La Porte Junior Golf Tour Facebook page.
