The New Prairie Cougars Minor Rocket football team traveled to Lucas Oil Stadium on Nov. 5 to participate in the inaugural Lucas Oil Red Zone Games. Teams from all over the Midwest in different age groups competed in several 10-minute games in "the red zone" allowing each team to play both on offense and defense for at least two series. The Cougars’ team was comprised of kids from grades 2-5. During the regular season in Northwest Indiana, the Cougars went undefeated. They also won all five games at the Red Zone Games, making them the only team in their bracket to be perfect, and scored nine touchdowns in the process. Among the NP scorers was Trenton Mamazza, Josh Jaracz, Xander Freeman and Reed Robinson.
The Cougars consisted of players Dustyn Starkey, Reed Robinson, Cameron Greene, Riley Masters, Rufino Gayton III, Bryker Poffenberger, Trenton Mamazza, Josh Jaracz, Blake Walker, Gage Litke, Wyatt Rutt, Bruno Barcevic, Ryese Lake, Grayson Goodman, Connor Tidwell, Bryce Grzeskowiak, Brock Kessler, Eli Mougin, Xander Freeman, Ryley Conley, Austin Miller, Lee Atherton, and coaches Jim Freeman, Mike Robinson and Rufino Gayton.
