Former La Porte High School player and Purdue University Fort Wayne senior Travis Upp readies defensively in a game. Upp and all spring sport athletes were offered another year of eligibility by the NCAA due to the coronavirus crisis.

It seemingly occurred in the blink of an eye.

Travis Upp and his Purdue University Fort Wayne baseball teammates were traveling to Western Illinois University when they stopped to eat. When the team got back on the bus, head coach Doug Schreiber said, ‘We have no information for you guys, all we know is they told us to turn around.’ Then, on the drive back, roughly two hours later, the team found out its series against the Leathernecks was postponed. Then, about an hour later, their season was completely canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic after only a month.
