Robert "Bob" J. Clark, 89, of La Porte, passed away unexpectedly at 5:55 a.m., Sunday, May 26, 2019 at La Porte Hospital.
He was born Oct. 30, 1929, in La Porte, to Joy D. and Ethel D. (Gaw) Clark.
Bob retired as a supervisor from Whirlpool. He honorably served in the United States Army. He was a Mason, a national qualifying Drum and Bugle Corp member, a diehard Cubs Fan of 75 years, and a 50-year member of the American Legion, Post 83. Bob was a contributor to the FOP and a time keeper for Allis Chalmers. He was a history buff, as well as a big fan of the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame. Bob was a car enthusiast and loved his Barracuda. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling, basketball, softball, and cross country. Additionally, he enjoyed watching the stock market, the financial channels, and the news. Most of all he, loved his family both immediate and extended.
On June 22, 1963, he married the love of his life of more than 55 years, Darla (Hill) Clark, who survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Robin Clark of La Porte; and his very close, lifetime friend, Robert Games of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Preceding in death were his parents; and his son, Jon Clark.
A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Road, La Porte (219) 362-3100. Visitation and viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2019 and from 9 a.m. until time of the service, Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kingsbury Cemetery immediately following services.
