He was born July 28, 1989, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Christopher W. and Lauri (Dobkins) Hummel.

Surviving are his father, Christopher W. Hummel of La Porte, Indiana; mother, Lauri Hummel of Michigan City, Indiana; step-daughter, Lillian Metzinger of Wanatah, Indiana; two step-sons, Ashton Campbell-Metzinger of Michigan City, Indiana and Carter Ward of Michigan City, Indiana; three sisters, Heaven (John) Roby, Heather Hummel and Jennifer Hummel, all of La Porte, Indiana; fiance, Abigail Metzinger of Michigan City, Indiana; and his grandmothers, Rose Dobkins of Michigan City, Indiana and Sandra Hapke of Chesterton, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert Daniel Dobkins Jr. and Benjamin Hummel.

Christopher was a press operator at Diamond Mfg., Michigan City, Indiana. He enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, target shooting, working on cars and being with his family. Christopher also loved his dogs. Chris had many useful talents, much too many to list. However, the things we will all miss the most about him was the love he gave of himself so completely. And if you were privileged enough to know him during his short but impressive life then you are already aware of the agony that his sudden passing brings. Chris had what seemed to be an unnatural ability to conquer all challenges set before him. Never boastful and always modest with only the satisfaction of helping a loved one as his reward.

Contributions may be made to the family of Christopher Hummel Jr. in care of Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN 46360.
