Remember When

La Porte Gas & Electric employees are pictured here, circa 1910. They were located on Washington Street. The La Porte Gas & Electric Company provided gas, electric light, and steam heating to La Porte, and electricity to Westville. Lloyd White was the general manager, and William Martin was president for a time. George Dorland was a partner in the company, and Samuel Kessler was one of the organizers. The company was a subsidiary of the United Light & Railways Company. For information regarding this photo, contact mbarber@laportecountyhistory.org.
