Remember When

Submitted by the La Porte County Historical SocietyA lost treasure, the French Renaissance interior of the La Porte Theater seated 1,576. The theater was equipped with a Wurlitzer-Hope-Jones Unit organ, and hosted plays, operas, vaudeville and movies. It opened on July 23, 1923 and was demolished in 1977 to make way for a bank.
