Submitted by the La Porte County Historical SocietyThe Oasis Ballroom, circa 1940s, is depicted in this postcard. The Oasis was located in Washington Park, Michigan City. Broad lawns planted with colorful plants were punctuated by architectural accents, including the old Oasis dance hall. Famous big bands of the day played at the Oasis including Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Cab Callaway, Count Basie, Lawrence Welk and others.
