LA PORTE — The Pax Center, located at 605 Washington St., La Porte, held an open house on Tuesday.

The 3,700 square foot Pax Center was donated to State Street Community Church in 2014.

It was renovated to feature a commercial kitchen, food pantry, clothing pantry, and community resource center.

The resource center includes eight computers connected to United Way's 211 program, and links users to jobs and community resources.

The computers were donated by IU Health La Porte Hospital.

Locally created artwork is also on display there. The space can seat 125 people. The church is still seeking partners for the center.
