Kiwanis fundraiser successful

Did you listen to WCOE-FM, 96.7 the Eagle, on Feb. 12? If you did, you heard members of Kiwanis Club of La Porte explain the various aspects of Kiwanis service to the La Porte community. Kiwanis Club members sell advertising to be aired on the second week of February and ALL the proceeds go directly to the Club treasury. This fundraiser was started in 1996 as a special 75th anniversary celebration, by the late Ken Coe. The fundraiser went well and has continued over the years.

As you all know, the radio station was recently sold. The new owner, Spoon River Media, had no ties to La Porte, but wanted to keep the local identity, of the station. Matt Moore, Managing Partner, had never heard of this type of fundraiser, but since it has been going on for so many years, he would continue. As it turned out, this was the most profitable year for Kiwanis.

I want to thank all the local businesses that support what Kiwanis does, by purchasing advertisements for broadcast on WCOE-FM, 96.7 the Eagle. Because of your belief in the good work of Kiwanis, we are able to support a multitude projects that improve the lives of children, in the La Porte area.

Keep listening to 967 the Eagle. We need a local radio station in La Porte. Support their sponsors or maybe even become one. Matt Moore and Spoon River Media is an excellent new partner in the Greater La Porte community.
