MICHIGAN CITY — Are you interested in local history? Would you enjoy sharing your love of our lakeside community with visitors from around the country?

Join us on March 23 at 1 p.m. at the Old Lighthouse Museum, 100 Heisman Harbor Road, to learn about exciting opportunities to give back to your hometown while making new friends and becoming a member of an elite group of Michigan City history guides.

Learn of opportunities for docents or tour guides at the historic 1858 lighthouse, which stood as a beacon for ships tossed on the stormy waters of Lake Michigan during the time of the great sailing ships and early steam cruisers.

Docent hours are flexible. In fact, you can set your own schedule.

There is so much to learn and be shared with out-of-town visitors at our local history museum, an institution often called the “Jewel” among Michigan City’s many historic attractions.
