The Michigan City Police Department recently received a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, donated by the U.S. military. According the the MCPD, this vehicle will be used for training, incident command, active shooter events and high-risk warrant services.

MICHIGAN CITY - The Michigan City Police Department recently added a new piece of equipment to its fleet - a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle.

Valued at $793,000, the MRAP was donated to the MCPD from the United States military through the 1033 Federal Surplus Program, which has distributed hundreds of surplus military vehicles to law enforcement agencies across the country.
