MICHIGAN CITY — For the first time in history, the Michigan City Common Council is majority-black and has all-black leadership.

At its meeting on Jan. 7, Fourth Ward Councilman Sean Fitzpatrick unseated Councilman At-Large Don Przybylinski as president by a 6-3 vote, split along racial lines.
