LPHS Winter Color Guard wins Scholastic Open Class

La PORTE — The La Porte High School Winter Color Guard won the Scholastic Open Class at the Midwest Color Guard Circuit Contest held on Sunday at Naperville Central High School in Naperville, Illinois.

Complete results of the Scholastic Open Class were as follows: 

La Porte - 65.7

Naperville Central - 65.1

Lake Central - 59.8

La Porte will travel to Indianapolis on Saturday and Sunday to compete in the Winter Guard International Indianapolis Regional Championships.

La Porte High School will host the MWCGC Championships on March 30 and 31.


4-H Clover Crop scrapbook event slated 

La PORTE — All area scrapbookers (crafters) are invited to attend the “4-H Clover Crop” sponsored by the La Porte County 4-H Council on March 2 from 9a.m. to 6 p.m. at the La Porte County Fairgrounds.

The $25 fee for adults ($30 after Feb. 15) and $15 for students includes table space, breakfast, lunch, contests, prizes and goodie bags. There will also be classes, make ‘n takes, a silent auction, and home-based businesses on site.

All proceeds will go to the 4-H Council of La Porte County.
