UNION MILLS — Shurla Bealor Rans' 99th birthday will be celebrated Sunday at the home of her niece, Marjory and her husband John Scarborough in Union Mills with family and friends.
Shurla grew up on a farm just east of Kingsbury and graduated from Kingsbury High in 1935.
Having had 10 siblings, she has lots of nieces and nephews that she loves to visit with and keep in close contact, writing letters often.
She and her daughter, Mary, live in Winamac, Indiana and host a family reunion at the park there every Labor Day.
They also come to Union Mills once a month for “Bealor Brunch” with all of her relatives living in La Porte County.
