Toys for Tots thanks supporters
The Toys for Tots organization would like to thank several organizations for all of their hard work in organizing fundraisers and donating toys and/or money to our 2017 toy campaign.
Many thanks to Knucklehead's Bar & Grille along with the Guardian Riders for hosting a kick-off event and to Hesston Steam Museum for the Candy Cane Express the first two week-ends in December. Thanks to Hearthside Food Solutions, NIPSCO, Indiana Paging, Arconic, Weil McLain, Decoy's, Sullair, LaLumiere Decathlon team and Blue Chip Casino. They all organized their individual events to donate toys and/or money to benefit deserving children in La Porte County. Thanks to Patrick's Grille, M.C. Exchange Club for your monetary donations and MCCEC for your grant.
We would like to once again thank Meijer and their employees for not only their donation, but for their help in organizing the shopping sprees of the different businesses that purchase toys to donate to our campaign.
We also want to extend our appreciation to the local businesses for allowing us to display our collection boxes for the months of November and December. And thank you as well to the individuals that support us each year with a monetary donation. Each year, the money is used for the purchase of toys. No matter how small or large, every donation is very much appreciated.
Larry Cook deserves our thanks, once again, for collecting toys in the Wanatah and LaCrosse area. He knows the area well and is instrumental in getting toys and donations from that area. As well as Jim and Mary Hodges doing such a great job in the Westville area.
To the Michiana Marine Detachment #1348 volunteers and all of the civilian volunteers that give generous amounts of time and effort into delivering boxes to collection sites, weekly pick-up of donated toys and then sorting, packing and delivering the toys to various organizations for distribution to the needy families. This year we delivered approximately 15,000 toys to La Porte County trustees, as well as community organizations to distribute to their various families.
We are fortunate to live in such a caring, generous community which enables the Toys for Tots program to help make the holidays so special for so many children in our area. Our sincere thanks to everyone for all that you do to make our yearly toy campaigns a reality.
— Tim Vaughan, La Porte County Toys for Tots coordinator, and Ron and April Stib, co-coordinators.
